The CGT calls for the demonstration and the strike on September 17

The CGT called Thursday for a day of demonstration and strike on September 17, barely an hour after its secretary general Philippe Martinez was received by the new Prime Minister Jean Castex.

“After the meeting with the Prime Minister, still nothing concrete for employment and wages. We must move from words to actions,” said the CGT in a statement.

Therefore, she calls “the employees, retirees, deprived of jobs to make the day of September 17, 2020 a powerful national day of actions, strikes and demonstrations”.

“Job blackmail, longer working hours, lower wages, ‘performance agreement’ and reduced activity for job retention, the government is putting forward its arsenal to massively destroy jobs, employee rights and their rights. social conquests, for the benefit of fatal employer policies, ”she explains.

“With the retirement by point and the breakage of unemployment insurance in particular, they are determined to want to maintain an old retrograde world to satisfy the interests of capital to the detriment of the interests of employees, retirees and deprived of jobs”, believes the trade union center.

Since the coronavirus crisis and general confinement, there had been no interprofessional day of demonstration and strike, but demonstrations by caregivers, against police violence or linked to the announcements of social plans that have followed one another for a month.
