The government has announced for several years making tax evasion a priority. And he does not hesitate to use it as a communication tool. Indeed, he announced Wednesday, October 23, to have recovered several billion euros since the beginning of 2019, or 40% of additional revenue compared to 2018. “Over the first nine months of the year, the tax authorities recovered 5.6 billion euros in unpaid taxes, against 4 billion last year”, specifies journalist Julien Cholin on the 19/20 set.

Google paid to avoid a lawsuit

“Good results that the government attributes to a law adopted last year [2018], and which allows companies that are caught with their hands in the bag to negotiate a tax adjustment. Two companies chose this option, among them, Google. The American firm wrote a check for 465 million euros to avoid a lawsuit ”, recalls the journalist.
