Some 6 million French households will receive a housing tax overpayment refund from the tax administration. David Boéri explains why from the 19/20 plateau.
This is news that will do some French taxpayers good. More than six million households will receive a transfer from the tax administration to the tune of 180 euros on average, for a total of 1.4 billion euros. “These are in fact overpayments on their housing tax. Last year, the state had already made a 30% rebate on this tax. This year, it’s 65%. the bill is therefore significantly reduced ”, explains David Boéri.
For those who have chosen to be paid monthly
“The reimbursement only concerns households that have chosen to be paid monthly. They are a little over 11 million. And among them, 5 million have thought of lowering their monthly payments as advised by the tax authorities. The others have paid too much in taxes since January ”, enlightens the journalist. It is therefore the latter which will be reimbursed by the French tax authorities in the coming days or weeks.
