From 2020, a premium will be granted to households for energy renovation work to replace the tax credit. The wealthiest households will be excluded from the system.

Energy renovation: the wealthiest households excluded from the new scheme

The government wants to better insulate housing to limit greenhouse gas emissions. As of January 1, 2020, a bonus will replace existing aid, including the tax credit for energy renovation. The executive wants to encourage those who do not have the means to insulate their apartments or houses.

Objective: 500,000 renovations per year

This new premium will be paid subject to income and the energy efficiency of the insulation. It will be issued upon completion of the work. For example, if the Durand family, which earns € 38,000 per year, wants to carry out work worth € 13,700, they will receive aid of € 8,490 in 2019, after having advanced part of this sum. In 2020, the premium will be € 9,200, paid immediately.

According to professionals in the sector, the 20% of the wealthiest households will be excluded from the system. Thanks to this bonus, the government wants to allow the renovation of 500,000 homes per year, against 360,000 today.
